A greener future
Our commitment
This commitment spans from achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and advancing sustainable practices, to lowering emissions intensity in ingredients, optimizing logistics, converting our factories to carbon neutrality, and developing circular packaging solutions.
Our short and long-term emissions reduction targets are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ensuring full alignment with climate science and the Paris Agreement.
Our approach
CO₂e Emissions
We aim to achieve Net Zero across all scopes by 2050. As in the wider food industry, the majority of our emissions fall under Scope 3 — indirect emissions outside our direct operations, occurring across our value chain, mainly driven by ingredient sourcing (63%) and packaging (21%). We actively engage with our suppliers to identify reduction opportunities and drive systemic change throughout our value chain.
Water
By 2030, we aim to reduce water consumption in our European factories by 20% through smarter management and reuse strategies:

Reuse & Recycling: Implementing water recycling systems across multiple production stages.
Waste
We aim to reduce waste by 50% by 2030 and ensure 100% of materials are recyclable with zero landfill:

100% Recyclability & Zero Landfill: Enhancing segregation, energy recovery, and circular economy practices.
Energy
By 2035, all European factories will be Net Zero. We have already achieved 100% green electricity and are implementing energy efficiency programs across all sites:
Energy Management: Initiatives aligned with digital factory programs to optimize operations.
Renewable Transition: Integrating solar, biomass, electrification, and other renewable sources.
Packaging
By 2035, our ambition is to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging, include at least 30% recycled content where feasible, and continuously reduce materials to minimize environmental impact:
Design for Recyclability: Using mono-material and fully recyclable formats.
Circular & Recycled Content: ≥30% recycled content in key lines.
Material Reduction: Lightweight, optimized formats to lower emissions.
Governance, Partnerships & Advocacy
Our sustainability strategy is guided by governance frameworks, cross-functional collaboration, and partnerships with suppliers, industry bodies, and research institutions.
Our progress
Since 2020, we have reduced energy consumption by 39%, and 98% of the electricity used across all our European factories now comes from renewable sources. In addition, solar panels installed at our factories now supply 12% of our total energy needs. In 2024, our Alcañiz factory (Spain) became our first carbon-neutral site.
Regarding ingredients, in 2024 we reduced the meat content in Erasco stews by 23%, cutting CO₂ emissions in Germany by 30%. We are also advancing sustainable sourcing and regenerative agriculture practices for key ingredients, such as basil used in our Tigullio pesto (Italy).
On packaging, 93% of our packaging is already recyclable. We also achieved a 10% reduction in glass for Tigullio pesto jars (Italy) and introduced 25% recycled PET in Liebig soups (France and Belgium).
